Buqu Fm
Type Locality and Naming
It was named by Bai Haisheng in 1989. The naming section is located at Yanshiping on the Qinghai-Tibet Highway, Qinghai Province, with its reference section being situated 7 km southeast Quemo Co, Tanggulashan Township, Germu (Golmud) City, Qinghai Province. Schematic strat column in previous "red Chinese Lexicon" suggests it is the lower-middle formation in the Yanshiping Gr.

Lithology and Thickness
It is composed of grey-black massive bioclastic limestone and grey thick-bedded crystalline limestone, intercalated with bioclastic limestone and dark-grey thick-bedded dolomitic micrite and brecciated limestone, with a thickness of 674 m. The basal part of it is marked by the occurrence of black massive bioclastic limestone, and serves as the boundary between it and the underlying TuotuoheJur Fm.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The formation is in a conformable contact with the underlying TuotuoheJur Fm
Upper contact
It is in a conformable contact with the overlying Xiali Fm
Regional extent
The formation is distributed essentially in the area of Banglong Co, Quem Tso and Yanshiping, Germu (Golmud) County, with a consistent lithology, but a great change in thickness, varying from 266 m to 1698 m.

Fossils
In the Yanshiping area the formation yields the middle and late Bathonian bivalves: Camptonectes laminatus, Anisocardia beaumonti, Myopholas acuticostata, Pholadomya pretei, Ceromyopsis? striata; brachiopods: Kallirhynchia orbis, K. superba, Pseudotubuthyris powerstockensis, P. globata, Pseudowattonithyris inflata, P. depressa, Wattonithyis fullonica, Sphaeroidothyris pentagonus, belonging to shallow-sea carbonate deposits.
